Spring is Flowering

Spring in Louisiana never tiptoes in quietly. It bursts forth with azaleas blazing beautiful colors along winding roads, jasmine curling its sweet perfume through the air, and the oaks sprouting tender new leaves. It’s a season that reminds us, almost insistently, that life was designed to grow and bloom.

As I walk through the vineyard this time of year, I notice something. Some plants thrive without much help, bursting with blossoms that seem to appear overnight. Others, despite watering and tending, stubbornly refuse to flower. For a long time, I would keep those stubborn plants in the ground, hoping that if I just held on, they’d surprise me with life. Sometimes they did. But more often, they didn’t.

That got me thinking about our own lives. How often do we keep pouring our energy, our time, our heart into something that simply isn’t producing? A project, a relationship, a goal, all which we believe should bear fruit, but no matter how much we feed it, it remains barren.

I believe in faith. I believe God can breathe life into anything. He can make dry bones live, He can make the desert bloom. But I also believe that sometimes, He asks us to release what we’ve been holding, so our hands are free to receive something new.

It’s not giving up, it’s making space. It’s trusting that the same God who brings springtime to the earth will bring a season of growth to our life, too… sometimes, that means pruning.

So, this season, as the flowers open and the warm breeze returns, take a quiet moment to look at what’s blooming in your life. Celebrate it. Nurture it. Then take a moment to look at those things that remain stubbornly bare, pray for wisdom to know if they’re meant to stay, or if it’s time to let them go. Because your energy, your love, and your faith are precious, and they’re meant to be sown where life can flourish.

Here’s to a spring filled with blooms!
